This is a joint venture of four beautiful Palaces. During 3 weeks in January* the public, visiting the gallery in which the project is to be held, is able to chat with the artists, residing in their own creation, or with anyone else from the Web who enters these Palaces to chat. Now some may ask at this point: "what Is a Palace?" It's a chatbox in which people meet and exchange typed-in sentences, communicating in real time on the Web. Here is an impression of an ordinary chatbox:
But Palace is far more superior: Not only gives Palace the chatters a nice background to look at, but the chatters are able to give a graphical representation of themselves, and place it anywhere on the screen. The typed-in sentences appear in textballoons near their avatars, creating a strip effect. |
How time flies! |

For this glorious occasion, I have dressed myself as an Chinese scholar :-)

A Palace has lots of rooms, each with a different graphic setting.
The users are able to express themselves using provided sounds, can
change their picture, pick an individual room to have privacy with a
friend. And have many handy tools* in their program to make their
stay more entertaining. And individuals can own these Palaces, giving others the opportunity to be there. You understand that I HAD to own one! From the 1950 Palaces (or so) located all over the world, I have selected three others to join this presentation.(note) These be : Digital Exposure, located in The Hague too, by a strange coincidence :-) owner Maart...(Maarten Toner). Xmission, located in the US, owner Tybalt, ((R. Troy Lunt). Aubade, located in Malaysia, owner Steve, (Steven Tay). Marshouse, the smallest of these four..owned by eeehm, me. Al these are rightful of the predicate "Works of art", are filled with humor, several kinds of games and puzzles, information and lots and lots of beautiful rooms. Now you ask, how do I join this Community? (Cause it is a community, thanks to Palace I have friends all over the world now) You can download the small program, (its free) install it, fire up your internet connection and GO. Download The windows version. Take a moment to look at the instructions, before installing. You have to surf to Palacetools to get the Mac version, (or Windows). And if you do have the PalaceClient software and want to visit Marshouse. |

The palaces to join this Artproject are selected by me, using the following criteria: - the room pictures have an high visual impact - many of the roompics are able to form a visual unity with the usual avatars (i.e. a place to sit or stand) - the palaces have visual consistency and carry one or more ideas - the palaces have a low travelogue content - the palaces are attractive even when empty, having games or puzzles - the palaces are enjoyable and carry humor - in the design of the palaces thought is given to possible slow netconnections back |
